On 15th of this month, 4 chain snatchers, three of them native of Karnataka and the main accused native of Thenkanikottai’s Islam area, attacked policemen with knifes.
One of the policemen Mr Munuswamy, Head Constable working for crime division at Hosur police station succumbed to injuries, next day early hours of the attack.
Accused Bujji, who attacked Munuswamy was dead due to heart attack on 16th of this month.
The other three accused were hiding in different parts of the country and government ordered to catch them all either as dead or live. Eight police team was formed and police were searching the criminals in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra.
A day before, one of the accused Amar was caught when he was hiding in Chennai. Few reports says that he was nabbed by Karnataka police while hiding near Bangalore and handed over to Hosur police.
Couple of days before, the main accused Mujeep @ Muchchamil and his accomplice Vignesh tried to surrender at Chengalpattu court, but the surrender was delayed as some required papers were not available with them.
Police almost cornered the accused and learning that they will be shot dead if they keep hiding, the two accused surrendered in front of Hosur ASP Rohini.
After appearing before Hosur ASP, the main accused Muchchamil, who attacked SI Nagaraj and instructed other men of his gang to attack the policemen, consumed poison. Policemen took him to Hosur GH where first aid was given. Later he has been shifted to Krishnagiri GH. Heavy police protection is given.
The four accused were in the age group of 19 and 21 years. Muchchamil has started crime activity from the age of 14 and has been in jail before.
Hosur public want the accused to be hanged to death or shot dead or beaten to death in a public place, so that criminals will have fear.
