On 15th of this month, Uthanapalli police received a complaint of chain snatching from a school teacher.
Uthanapalli police tried to chase and catch the accused, but the accused managed to escape by riding their bike towards Hosur. Hosur police was alerted and ASP camp was informed about the same.
Hosur police’s crime division SI Nagaraj along with two constables Munuswamy and Dhanapal went in two motor bikes to catch the criminals.
The police team found the criminals on Rayakottai Road and started chasing them. The accused ride their bike on Ring road and went inside Barathi Dasan Nagar.
Noting that the accused were hiding in a house in Barathi Dasan nagar, police team went to nab them.
As, one of the accused Mujjamil has a previous similar history and has been nabbed by the same three policemen during 2014, he identified the policemen who were in their plain clothes and instructed his fellow gang men to attack the police with knife.
Mujjamil took a knife and attacked SI Nagaraj in abdomen and he repeated the same with a clear intention to kill him on the spot. Another two accused Amara and Vignesh also attacked SI Nagaraj, as Mujjamil shouted to fellow criminals that the men in plain clothes were police.
Another accused Puchchi attacked Head Constable Munusamy and Munusamy succumbed to injuries. Police Danabal managed to nab Puchchi and Puchchi died due to heart attack when police conducted inquiry. Danabal also sustained knife cut injuries.
Police have formed 8 separate teams to catch the criminals and police team were searching the criminals in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra.
Police also have a close watch in all courts, expecting the criminals to surrender in any at any time.
It is said that, accused Mujjamil and Vignesh tried to surrender at Cheggalpattu court. Though they tried, the required documents were not with them and delay was caused due to the same. Police got a tip-off about the same and rushed to the spot to catch the criminals but they managed to escape from the place.
Police tried their best by searching in all location in and around Chenggalpattu but were not able to locate them.
Meanwhile on getting a tip-off about the hiding location of Amara and police nabbed him. He was arrested when he was hiding in Chennai.
