Jumbos of Hosur are now stationing at Koneripalli village near Hosur.
About 20 elephants are now stationing in Hosur and its surrounding forest area. Almost for the past 15 days they are giving nightmare to villagers, as farm produce are being eaten by these jumbos and the villagers fear of attack by the pachyderms.
Day before yesterday, these elephants reached Pathakottai village near Kamanthotti village. They spoiled tomato and kelvaraku produced in the area and later for no reasons entered into a roja garden of about 5 acres area and spoiled the entire garden.
Later the jumbos went back to Podur forest area.
The elephants came to National Highway near Koneripalli on which forest officials stopped the traffic movement for a while. But, instead of crossing the road, the pachyderms went back to Chettipalli forest area.
The main reason for these jumbos reaching human habitats particularly for water is blamed on forest officials who have failed to properly use the funds allocated for making water tanks inside the forest area, as due to drought, there is no water in the ponds located inside forests.
