Day before yesterday night, Kannada speaking thieves, struck a farm house near Thalli and took away Rs 5 lac worth valuable including cash.
Retired Karnataka Official:
Paiyya Reddy (80), a retired official who served for Karnataka government has settled in Thevar Uliyaalam village near Thalli.
He has built a farm house away from the village and lives there along with his wife Narayanamma.
Domestic Support Staff
Paiyya has employed Ramesh (30) a native of Manjukonda Palli village near Anchetty. Ramesh stays in servant house built near the main farm house. He lives along with his wife.
Ramesh and his wife takes care of farm work along with domestic work for Paiyya.
Thieves threw Milakaai podi:
While Ramesh and his wife were asleep, by around 12 am yesterday, they heard someone knocking the door. Ramesh opened the door. Thieves threw milakaai podi on the face of Ramesh. Hearing the cry of Ramesh, his wife came in support to get milakaai podi on her face also.
Thieves threatened the couple and took Rs 6000 from them.
Cash and Valuables Robbed:
Threatening Ramesh and his wife, thieves took them to Paiyya’s house and broke open the door.
Thieves attacked Paiyya and his wife and at knife point took 200 gram gold and Rs 20, 000cash from them.
Thieves pushed the couples into a room and locked the same. They threatened Ramesh not to inform the police. They vanished in the dark.
In the morning, Ramesh, broke opened the door and four of them came out.
Paiyya lodged a police complaint with Thalli police. SP Pandi Gangathar, Thenkanikottai DSP, Thalli Inspector and police visited the house of Paiyya and are conducting inquiry.
Sniffer dogs were assigned but was not able to find the thieves. Kai Rekai specialists have collected hand prints from the site.
As the thieves spoke Kannada, police suggest that the thieves might be from Karnataka.
Thieves have used the opportunity as the farm house is located very remote with no security system implemented.
