Maha Shivaratri was celebrated with devotion in Hosur and surrounding areas. Large numbers of devotees visited Chandrachoodeswarar Temple, popularly known as Hosur Malai Kovil, to offer prayers. According to Puranic belief, Goddess Parvati worshipped Lord Shiva throughout the night on this sacred day, making it one of the most significant observances of the year. Special poojas and cultural programmes were held in Shiva temples across the region.

ஓசூர் மற்றும் அதன் சுற்றுவட்டார பகுதிகளில் சிவராத்திரி விடிய விடிய மிகச் சிறப்பாக கொண்டாடப்பட்டது. கடந்த நாள் காலை முதல் பல்லாயிரக்கணக்கான மக்கள், ஓசூர் மலை கோவிலில் சிவனை வழிபட்டு சென்றனர்.

ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் மாசி திங்களில் வரும் தேய்பிறை 14 ஆம் நாள், சிவனை, பார்வதி, இரவு முழுவதும் கண் விழித்திருந்து வழிபட்டதாக நம்பிக்கை. அதுவே மிகச் சிறப்பான சிவராத்திரி என கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது.

ஆண்டு முழுவதும் வரும் பிற சிவராத்திரிகள், சிவனை பிற சிறப்பு வாய்ந்தவர்கள் வணங்கிய நாட்களாக கருதப்படுகிறது.

ஓசூர் மலை கோவில் மட்டுமல்லாது, சுற்றுவட்டாரத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள அனைத்து சிவாலயங்களிலும் சிறப்பு வழிபாடுகளும், கலை நிகழ்ச்சிகளும் நடைபெற்றன.
