Karnataka Rakshana Vedike organized a massive demonstration on the border of Tamil Nadu Hosur - Bangalore Karnataka state, carrying empty jugs and carrying stones on their heads, wearing Tirupati namam and urging the union and state government not to release water to Tamil Nadu.

They then staged a sit-in protest blocking the Bangalore Hosur National Highway, which disrupted traffic for about half an hour.

Due to this, the motorists and the public were put in trouble and the traffic was severely affected as there was no way for even an ambulance to go through on emergency.

Karnataka police arrested more than 80 people belonging to Kannada organizations.  Later the road traffic between Hosur and Bangalore was cleared.
