Muni Chandran hails from the Nilgiris village near Nagamangalam near Rayakottai.

His son Saran is 12 years old. He is studying in 6th standard in a private school staying at his grandmother house in Chudukondapalli near Berikai.

The student, who had come to parent s village during the quarterly vacation, did a battery based project, as per the advice given by teachers. At that time, his cousin Haris, age 10, a 5th grade student in a government school in Adavisamipuram, was with Saran.

The battery was given power supply without any adult supervision and the battery exploded. Two fingers of the student Haris who was holding the battery were severed. Student Charan got injured in the wrist area.

They were rescued and admitted to Hosur Private Hospital. They are being treated there.

The Uthanapalli police have registered a case and are investigating.
