A mother and son have been arrested in Hosur for allegedly attempting to transport banned tobacco products.

According to police sources, Sanjay Kumar and his mother Shanthi, natives of Vilathikulam in Thoothukudi district, were travelling in a Nissan Sunny car via the TVS Motor road.

They were intercepted by the election flying squad and later handed over to Mathigiri Police.

Police have registered a case, seized the tobacco products and the vehicle used for transportation, and further investigation is underway.
