A weathered white-coloured rock painting found inside a small hill cave near Anchetty, around 55 km from Hosur, has raised questions about the history of the region.

The painting appears to show a human figure confronting a wild animal with a sharp, weapon-like object, while a bird-like figure can also be seen.

An archaeology enthusiast who examined the photographs believes the rock art could be around 2,000 years old or even older. He interprets the scene as possibly depicting a person protecting poultry or other domestic animals from a wild animal.

Local villagers have their own folklore associated with the figures, offering a different interpretation of the scene.

The same cave is also associated with the recently constructed Thimmaraya Swamy temple with Sridevi and Bhoodevi.

The exact age, origin and meaning of the rock art would require further archaeological examination.

நாளை சனிக்கிழமை, முடிந்தால் ஓசூரில் இருந்து சுமார் 55 கிலோ மீட்டர் தொலைவில் உள்ள அஞ்செட்டியில் இருந்து மரியாளம் செல்லும் பாதையில், சிறிய மலை குகையில் அமைந்துள்ள சிறப்புமிக்க இவற்றை பார்த்துவிட்டு வரலாமே!

பாறை ஓவியத்தில், கீழ்ப்பகுதியில் பறவை ஒன்று நிற்பது போலவும், மனிதர் ஒருவர், வேட்டை விலங்கு ஒன்றை கூரான கல் போன்ற ஆயுதத்தால் தாக்குவது போன்று வரையப்பட்டுள்ளது. அன்றைய நாட்களில், தனது கோழி உள்ளிட்ட கால்நடைகளை அந்த மனிதர் வேட்டை விலங்குகளிடமிருந்து காத்து வந்ததால், அவரது நினைவாக இவ் ஓவியம் வரையப்பட்டு இருக்கலாம் என தொல்லியல் வல்லுனர் இந்த ஓவியம் குறித்து கருத்து வழங்கினார்.

அந்த குகையிலேயே திம்மராய சுவாமி உடனுறை ஸ்ரீதேவி பூதேவி ஆலயம் உள்ளது. சனிக்கிழமை என்கிற காரிக்கிழமைகளில் மட்டும் இந்த ஆலயத்தில் காலை 10 மணி முதல் பிற்பகல் வரை வழிபாடும் மேற்கொள்ளப்படுகிறது.

தேன்கனிக்கோட்டையை தாண்டிய பின், அஞ்செட்டி வரை அமைந்துள்ள அழகான காட்சிகளை கண்டு களித்தபடி ஒரு முறையாவது இங்கு சென்று வாருங்கள்!
