A major Rs 150 crore project is underway near Kelavarapalli Dam, Hosur, to purify polluted Thenpennai River water. Bengaluru’s sewage inflow has long threatened Hosur’s groundwater & people’s health. Local protests stopped untreated water from being diverted into Hosur’s lakes. Now, SIPCOT has partnered with a private firm from Pune to set up a mega water treatment plant. Once completed, factories will use treated water, helping recharge groundwater for Hosur residents. This project could be a turning point for Hosur’s environment and industry balance.
