Concerns have been raised by animal welfare volunteers and residents regarding the implementation of a street dog sterilisation programme in Hosur.

The municipal corporation has reportedly engaged a private organisation to carry out sterilisation procedures, with each procedure said to be compensated at around ₹1,650.

Volunteers say that standard procedures should include capturing dogs with GPS documentation, performing sterilisation, marking them for identification, monitoring recovery, and releasing them back at the same location.

However, some activists have claimed that documentation and monitoring details are not clearly available despite reports that a large number of dogs have undergone the procedure.

Residents near the temporary facility in Anand Nagar have also raised questions regarding daily handling of dogs at the location.

Animal welfare groups have called for transparency and proper monitoring. Official clarification from the concerned authorities is awaited.
