A herd of elephants was reportedly seen in groups along the Kottaiyur–Urikam road near Anchetty this morning, apparently moving towards human-inhabited areas while searching for drinking water.

The movement raised concerns about a possible human-elephant conflict in the area.

Wildlife volunteers have urged the Forest Department to fully implement the elephant corridors notified by the Tamil Nadu government in accordance with court directions and take appropriate measures to reduce conflict between elephants and local communities.

நீதிமன்ற வழிகாட்டுதல்களின் படி தமிழ்நாடு அரசு அறிவித்த யானைகளின் வழித்தடங்களை வனத்துறையினர் முழுமையாக நடைமுறைப்படுத்தி, யானைகள் மற்றும் மனிதர்களுக்கு இடையே மோதல் ஏற்படாத வகையில் நடவடிக்கைகள் எடுக்க வேண்டும் என தன்னார்வலர்கள் கோரிக்கை.
